20+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND PERSONALIZED CARE
Our Park Ridge Dentist
Dr. Mark Kuchta graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry in 1992, but that was just the beginning of his dental education. He is dedicated to continuing education that helps him remain at the forefront of the ever-changing dental field. He’s studied temporomandibular joint disorders, sleep apnea, and many other evolving disciplines. He also utilizes some of the most advanced technology in his dental office.
Although Dr. Kuchta takes dentistry very seriously, he also knows that laughter is very good medicine. He’s built a dental team that aren’t just great at their jobs, they’re fun-loving and kind. We don’t just treat your smile, we give you plenty of chances to exercise it, too.
TMJ TREATMENT
No More Jaw Pain & Headaches
Temporomandibular joint disorders, sometimes called either TMJ or TMD affect the health, function, and comfort of your jaw. You might notice symptoms such as jaw clicking or popping, teeth grinding, and limited jaw movement. You might not realize that these are linked to your headaches, neck pain, ringing in the ears, and other symptoms.
At Complete Health Dentistry of Park Ridge, Dr. Kuchta can help you get relief from TMJ symptoms with drug-free and noninvasive TMJ treatment. Don’t keep suffering with pain and limited jaw function. Relief is as easy as scheduling a TMJ consultation.
With some TMJ symptoms, you may see relief at your first appointment. Many TMJ symptoms are the result of tense, sore muscles, so relaxing them can give immediate relief.
Other symptoms may resolve more slowly. It can take weeks or months of wearing a bite splint to see full relief.
The jaw muscles are among the strongest in the body. They’re supposed to work peacefully with other muscles, but, to paraphrase the cliche, “When the jaw isn’t happy, nobody’s happy.”
Strained jaw muscles can cause pain in surprising places by passing on their tension, pulling your neck out alignment, putting pressure on sensitive nerves, and other mechanisms.
SLEEP APNEA TREATMENT
Let Everyone Sleep Peacefully
Sleep apnea is a common condition, affecting up to one in four American adults. You might not know anyone with sleep apnea, though, because the condition is also commonly undiagnosed. Perhaps 80% or more of people with sleep apnea don’t know they have it.
That’s dangerous, because sleep apnea is a potentially deadly condition. You might notice daytime sleepiness and dozing off behind the wheel, but you might not know about the elevated risk of high blood pressure, heart failure, stroke, dementia, and more. Fortunately, sleep apnea is highly treatable, and treatment reduces your risks.
The only way to diagnose sleep apnea is with a sleep study. However, you might suspect sleep apnea if people tell you you snore and you feel sleepy during the day, even when you spend a full night in bed. High blood pressure that doesn’t respond to medication is another strong indicator.
Yes! Custom oral appliances are an effective, proven treatment that can reduce your snoring, even if you don’t have sleep apnea. Just put in your mouthguard at bedtime, and everyone will enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.
Frequently Asked Questions
It’s important to understand that the body is a single, integrated system. We divide it into specialties to make it easier to study. However, you know that the function of your heart affects your brain, even though you see a cardiologist for one and a neurologist for the other. It’s the same with dentistry, and it’s important to remember that almost everything enters your body through the mouth, which means that poor health there can spread through the body.
We are family dentists, and are happy to see your children once they get too old for their pediatric dentist. We understand that having the same dentist for everyone can be more convenient and comfortable.
Seeing a dentist every six months is a good recommendation. Some people need more regular visits, but others don’t need as many.
Regular dental cleanings and checkups are probably the best investment in healthcare that you can make. By preventing and treating chronic infections, you won’t just keep your teeth for life, you’ll enjoy better overall health. If you have a related condition like heart disease and diabetes, regular dental visits can save you hundreds of dollars a year in lower medical costs.
Although teeth and bones have some similarities, they have one major difference. Bones have living cells integrated in their structure. However, with teeth, the living cells are only in the middle. The outer layer of the tooth is almost entirely mineral–like a rock–and has no living cells so it can’t heal.
At Complete Health Dentistry, we strive to make your experience as seamless as possible. We accept payments from most insurance plans and offer out-of-network coverage for all PPO plans. To make things easier, we also submit claims on your behalf, so you can focus on what matters most – your care!
