Dr. Mark Kuchta is dedicated to helping his patients improve their overall quality of life by improving their oral health. He understands how having the right tools can improve both a patient’s experience and their results, so he’s dedicated to evaluating new dental technologies as they debut.

However, Dr. Kuchta also understands that technology is just a tool, and it’s not useful if it doesn’t provide tangible benefits to his patients. Below are some of the technologies we’ve adopted at Complete Health Dentistry of Park Ridge and how each one can benefit you.

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a tiny digital camera that lets us take pictures inside your mouth. This technology makes it easy for you to see what we see. That way, when we talk about conditions, treatments, and goals, we all have the same information. You’ll know we’re not making something up to give unnecessary treatments–you’ll see it for yourself so that you can make confident decisions about your dental care.

In addition, the intraoral camera helps us identify problems sooner when they’re easier (and cheaper) to treat. Seeing the clear image helps us decide on the right treatment for your case, and lets us document the condition for the future, allowing us to clearly compare the condition of your mouth before and after care.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays don’t use film to create pictures of your teeth, bones, and other oral structures. Instead, they have digital sensors. Instead of a film image, they create digital ones, and this offers several benefits to you.

First, digital x-rays use less radiation than traditional film-based x-rays. In addition, the x-rays are available faster–no need to develop the films, the images just pop up. This makes your visits shorter. It’s easy to magnify digital images and put them on the screen where you can see them. In the past, dentists often looked at tiny films using a magnifying glass, so you couldn’t see what they saw. The digital images don’t require chemicals to develop, either, which means less hazardous waste. The need for fewer physical resources also makes digital x-rays cheaper for you.

TRIOS: a 3D Intraoral Digital Scanner

In the past, dental impressions were made by you biting down into a tray of impression material, which changed over time from plaster to plastic goo to foam, depending on the material your dentist chose. You had to bite and hold, even if the material made you gag. It could be hard to hold your jaw in the right position when you were numbed up, leading to inaccurate impressions.

That’s all changed thanks to the TRIOS 3D Digital scanner. With TRIOS technology, the dental impression process is faster and easier. Instead of taking five minutes or more per arch, our dental professionals can capture a full set of impressions in about a minute using TRIOS. We just wave the scanner over your teeth. There’s no tray, no goo, and you don’t have to hold your jaw in the same position for so long.

The digital images TRIOS produces are easy for you to see, can be manipulated digitally to design your restorations, and we can send them to a lab instantly, which can reduce the time you have to wait for your restorations.

CBCT

CBCT stands for cone beam computed tomography. This technology is similar to the medical CT scanners your doctor might use, but it has a few differences that make it a better dental technology. The CBCT uses less radiation than the typical CT scanner. In addition, it has an open design. You sit in a chair, and the machine moves around you. It doesn’t completely surround you–you can always see out of the machine, which can help if you get claustrophobic feelings during a medical CT scan. Plus, the CBCT has very detailed resolution, which lets us see all the tiny features of your teeth and jaw so we can design treatments that are accurate to your needs.

Occlusense

Occlusense is an advanced alternative to articulating paper. Instead of checking your bite with pieces of paper, you will bite down on this digital sensor, which will not only tell us the places where your bite experiences the most bite force, but also how those bite forces change as you bite down. This advanced digital tool not only helps us ensure the best fit for your restorations, it helps us check your bite for imbalance forces that contribute to excessive tooth wear, chipping, and cracking.

EZ Laser

The EZ laser helps us take care of your gums. This soft tissue laser means we won’t have to use blades on your gums when performing gum disease treatment. This is faster and more accurate, and it helps to sterilize the area. This can improve healing and keep gum disease from returning as quickly. Not only do you get faster treatment and better results, gum disease treatment with the EZ laser causes less discomfort.

Overjet

Overjet is an AI assistant that helps Dr. Kuchta provide you with the most accurate and precise dental treatments. By analyzing your condition with its advanced algorithm, Overjet ensures Dr. Kuchta isn’t forgetting any details about your care when he makes a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. Overjet also helps Dr. Kuchta to design personalized treatments so you can get dental care specifically designed for you.
