If you’re looking for a way to replace all your teeth on the top or bottom with a single procedure, All-on-X is a great approach. It will use dental implants to secure a set of attractive and functional replacement teeth. Most people are candidates for this procedure and can enjoy wonderful results quickly. The exact number of implants used will depend on Dr. Mark Kuchta’s evaluation and your needs.

If you’re interested in getting a new set of functional, attractive replacement teeth in just one procedure, let Complete Health Dentistry of Park Ridge help.

What Is All-on-X?

The All-on-X procedure is a special approach to replacing all your teeth in one or both arches using a limited number of dental implants, most often four, six, or eight. It’s similar to the All-on-4 procedure, which is a brand name for a specific form of the procedure that we also offer.

In the All-on-X procedure, you’ll get the specific number of dental implants you need, placed to take maximum advantage of the remaining bone in your jaw. We’ll also craft a restoration (prosthetic) to replace your missing teeth. This might be called an implant denture or an implant bridge, depending on your preferred terminology. Abutments connect the restoration to the implants.

Depending on your goals, preferences, and oral health, the restoration might be either removable (snap in / snap out) or it might be fixed by screws that only your dentist can remove.

Why Choose All-on-X?

All-on-X is a method for replacing all the teeth in a single arch. It is only appropriate if you have already lost all the teeth in an arch or if you only have a few teeth that it might make sense to extract in order to prepare for the procedure.

If you’re a candidate for All-on-X, there are many good reasons to choose it.

Secure

If you currently have dentures, you know how much trouble it causes when they are loose. With All-on-X, your replacement teeth are held in place by dental implants that are fully anchored in your bone. Even if you opt for a removable restoration, it will only come out when you want it out. Otherwise, it will stay firmly in place.

Functional

The security of All-on-X restorations helps make them functional. With these replacement teeth, you’ll be able to bite and chew as if you had your natural teeth back. Having a full set of secure replacement teeth will also make it easier to speak clearly.

Attractive

All-on-X restorations utilize the latest technology in cosmetic dentistry to make your restorations. You’ll have replacement teeth that look like natural teeth. For many people, All-on-X gives them the best smile of their lives, one without all the flaws your smile had even when you were young.

Rapid Procedure

The All-on-X dental implant procedure happens quickly. The design of All-on-X minimizes the likelihood that you need additional support procedures like bone grafts, which could add months to your procedure. In just one procedure, you’ll get all your dental implants placed, and, almost always, you will get a full set of replacement teeth. This provisional restoration will look and function normally, but it’s only intended to last a short time before we replace it with a definitive restoration designed to last.

Long-Lasting

With All-on-X, you’ll enjoy long-lasting results. With traditional dentures, you might need adjustments and repairs every three to six months. At best, a denture will last a few years. However, the All-on-X implants will likely last your entire life. The restoration is also very long-lasting. You can expect it to last 10-15 years, or perhaps more with proper care.

The All-on-X Procedure

The All-on-X procedure begins with a consultation. Dr. Kuchta will determine if you’re a good candidate for this procedure based on your oral health, the amount of bone you have remaining, your cosmetic and functional goals, and your commitment to the procedure. Based on your preferences, Dr. Kuchta will recommend the right number of dental implants, typically four, six, or eight.

If you’re a good candidate, Dr. Kuchta will refer you to a dental implant surgeon who will handle the surgical procedure. This helps ensure that you get the best possible care for placing your dental implants.

Next, you’ll get your dental implant surgery. This may include the extraction of natural teeth. After placing your implants, your surgeon will evaluate them to make sure they’re stable enough for placing a restoration. If so, then you’ll get your full set of replacement teeth.

Over the next four to six months, the bone will heal around the implants, fixing them in place. During this time, you can consider how you feel about your provisional restoration. If there are changes you would make, let us know, because we can incorporate them into the design of your definitive restoration.

When your implants are fully healed, Dr. Kushta will fit your definitive restoration, and you’ll have a beautiful smile you can enjoy for a decade or more.
